Guidelines for issuing expert opinions on personal names

Expert opinions of this kind are issued in Czech language only and they are subjected to a fee. By submitting the form (link below) the applicant places order for a written expert opinion on a personal name. Once the form is submitted the order cannot be cancelled.

Expert opinion is processed within 30 days from submitting the form. In most cases, though, the opinions are issued within two weeks.

We advise applicants: If the name does not comply with the law on civil registers, names and surnames, we issue a negative expert opinion and charge the fee anyway. In this case, also, an extensive research is required to verify the compliance of the name with the law. The price of the opinion is set according to the complexity of the subject matter and usually ranges from CZK 800 to CZK 1,500 (+ VAT and postage) for an opinion on one name.

The applicant will receive an advance invoice by email. Once the invoice is paid, we send the opinion. The applicant can choose the method of delivery:

  1. Registered letter that can be deposited in a mailbox (the mailbox must be clearly labelled with the name of the applicant).
  1. Datová schránka (official state mailbox and data box) of the registry office stated by the applicant (scan of the opinion can be sent to the applicant’s email as well).
  2. Datová schránka (official state mailbox and data box) of the applicant.

When sending to datová schránka we do not charge the posting fee.
