Diabible

The Diabible database provides access to full texts of medieval translations of the Bible into Czech from selected 14th and 15th century manuscripts and printed sources. It enables study of these sources by comparing the wording of specific biblical verses. Diabible includes a selection of translated versions (redactions) and transitional translations for specific biblical books. Due to its vastness, translatability, richness in genre and language, and preservation in adaptations and different translations, the Old Czech Bible can be used for linguistic research on the development of language at all levels. However, except for a few instances, Old Czech Bible translations have not been edited due to their large size, which limits research. Electronic editions of selected sources are gradually added to the database.
