Dynamika kulturní češtiny 16.–18. století. Čtyři případové studie z roviny hláskosloví

The book focuses on four orthographic and spelling phenomena, namely the prosthetic v- (e.g. vokno), the shift é > í (good milk), the diphthongization ý > ej (bílej mlejn) and the verbal diphthongization of ú > ou (oumysl) in printed literary texts from the 16^th

-18^th centuries. The focus of the monograph is on the linguistic analysis of contemporary literary sources in an attempt to describe the then-existing usage, developmental tendencies and differences from today’s situation of a language. The material is based on more than 100 printed religious, historiographical and linguistically reflective texts. The monograph makes a major contribution to the knowledge of 16^th-18^th century Czech; it adds new facts to the existing knowledge and corrects some older assumptions, for example the so-called period of linguistic decline wrongly attributed to Baroque Czech.
