Scope of work:   

The Department of Scientific Information compiles the bibliography of Czech linguistics and manages the library.

Bibliography 

The bibliography carries out analytical processing of scholarly Czech and foreign linguistic works in the field of Czech studies. Since 1991, the bibliographic records have been available in the database Bibliografie české lingvistiky (Bibliography of Czech Linguistics). 
 
Between 1955 and 2009, Bibliografie české lingvistiky (Bibliography of Czech Linguistics) yearbooks were published. All of the yearbooks are available in printed form and some are available in PDF format. 

The bibliography also prepares and publishes personal bibliographies and the Bibliografie české onomastiky (Bibliography of Czech Onomastics) yearbook.
 
The department also contributes to international linguistic bibliographies (for example, Linguistic Bibliography – Bibliographie linguistique, Brill, Leiden; Bibliografia Językoznawstwa Slawistycznego, Institute of Slavic Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw) and to the database Slavistik-Portal run by the Berlin State Library. 

Scope of work: 

1. academic processing of printed linguistic works and analytical processing of articles from linguistic journals and monographs in the field of Czech studies; recording these works into an electronic database 

2. compilation and publication of thematic bibliographies 

3. contributions to foreign linguistic bibliographies 

4. processing and reviewing of name authorities and glossary of key words 

5. search services and consulting services 

Library 

The Knihovna (library) specialises in scholarly linguistic literature and Czech studies literature. Academic staff, students and the public may borrow books and use the library’s research services. 

The formation of the library began in the 1950s. Today, its collection contains about 85,000 volumes. It also disposes of 850 domestic and foreign journals (with current subscriptions to 170 titles). The catalogue of books is part of the collective catalogue of libraries of the CAS Institutes, and the catalogue of periodicals is part of the National Library database SKCP. 

 
The department also administers the book collections of the Dialectological and Etymological Departments in Brno. These collections are treated separately and their catalogues are included in the katalogu knihoven ústavů Akademie věd (collective catalogue of the libraries of the CAS Institutes).
