The Monologue corpus

The Monologue corpus contains recordings and orthographic transcripts of monologic public speeches made by professional speakers of the Czech Radio public broadcasting station. It was developed above all to provide material for research on contemporary pronunciation patterns/norms in the Czech media, for which few other sources exist. Although the corpus was primarily intended for phonetic analyses, it can also be used to investigate other levels of language structure.

Corpus users can search for a particular word (or sequence of sounds, etc.) in the transcripts and subsequently play the corresponding sequence of the audio recording.

The version Monologue 1.0 was created in 2010-2012 through the student project Corpus of Recordings of Czech Representative Speakers, project ID: 0264/2010, which was funded by the Charles University Grant Agency, RVO: 68378092 and the LINDAT-Clarin project (project ID: LM2010013).

The version Monologue1.1 was developed in 2016 at the Czech Language Institute in collaboration with the Institute of Formal and Applied Linguistics of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University. It was funded through RVO: 68378092.
