The IJP has been operated since its launch by the staff of the Natural Language Processing Centre of the Faculty of Informatics of Masaryk University (Dana Hlaváčková, Karel Pala and Pavel Šmerk). It is the first language reference of its kind. The manual has two sections: a wordlist and a reference section. If you have any comments or suggestions to either section, please send them to poradna at ujc.cas.cz.
The reference section of the IJP was significantly expanded during preparations for the printed edition. The first printed edition, endorsed by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, was published in February 2014 as the Akademická příručka českého jazyka (Academic Handbook of the Czech Language) (Academia). It was awarded the Academia Bestselling Book of 2014 prize and the Czech Bestseller Award 2014, taking first place in the category Professional and Popularisation Literature for Adults. In May 2019, Academia published the second, revised and updated edition of the Academic Handbook of the Czech Language, again with the endorsement of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
