Phrase Bank of Academic Czech

The Corpus of academic Czech contains Czech-language non-translated texts published after 2010 in scientific journals indexed in Web of Science or Scopus or EBSCO databases. Thanks to the generosity of the editors, the corpus includes articles from a total of 21 journals, representing to varying degrees all six disciplines of the broader Frascati Manual classification.

The Phrase Bank is designed particularly for students and early career researchers. However, it can also be of interest for those who teach academic writing or do research thereof. It contains examples of academic phrases that typically occur in different sections of a scholarly text and are part of its explanatory and argumentative structure. By linking the phrase bank to the Corpus of Academic Czech, users can track the place and function of a given phrase in its original context.

The academic methodological manual provides guidance on how to work with the phrase bank and the corpus in teaching academic writing.

The project was supported by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic under the Éta programme (PID: TL05000309).
